Youth interfaith seminar and tree planting in secondary schools in Bauchi State AFRICA

 Forward Action for Conservation of Indigenous Species conducted a seminar on youth interfaith dialogue and tree planting for the protection of the environment. This was part of FACIS's 2014 work plan. 5000 thousand youth in Bauchi state will be trained in climate change mitigation and adaptation measures this year. This will be conducted simultaneously with peace dialogues, and interactive sessions with religious/community leaders.

The seminar was organized by Forward Action for Conservation of Indigenous Species (FACIS) in collaboration with the Bauchi State Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change (AYICC) on the 25th of January 2014. 

Three papers were presented by specialists from the department of Forestry, Wildlife, and Research/planning & statistics of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. It was attended by the Zonal Director federal ministry of Environment, north-east zonal office. More than 30 secondary school students participated in the event. 50 tree seedlings were planted on the same day by students and government officials.
